ESF Pre Apprenticeship Support for Adults with Learning Disabilities 2011-13
The ESF Pre-Apprenticeship Support for Adults with Learning Disabilities project ran from October 2011 to 31st March 2014, offering opportunities for adults with learning disabilities (ALD) to access a programme of bespoke training that provided not only individual support and mentoring, but also training workshops to reinforce personal skills development and support employment aspirations. Learners attended a number of workshops designed to assist them back into employment or progression into an Apprenticeship. Learners were able to access opportunities to gain qualifications during their time on the project.
In collaboration with the Learning Partnership were Autism Bedfordshire, Develop EBP, Kennedy Scott Ltd and Youth Inspired who in turn worked within a number of communities and groups. The project was targeted to engage with 38 learners and achieved 43 who were supported throughout the programme. Of the 38 only 20 were profiled to complete a demonstrable record of achievement with end of project actuals delivering 32 completions. 5 learners progressed from their learning into voluntary placements with another 4 moving into employment. Many others were successful in gaining a qualification and improving employability prospects which for many included increased confidence in being able to apply for work.
ESF is a partnership initiative with Central Bedfordshire Council and Bedford Borough Council as part of their ongoing commitment to improve economic development and employment throughout Bedfordshire.
